Have you ever wondered if you could land an airplane at one of the most dangerous airports in the world? Well now you have the chance to find out. Tailwind Flight Center would like to invite you to participate in our 2011 Redbird Flight Simulator Tournament. Each participant will have the opportunity to land at the following 5 airports

1. Juancho E. Irausquin Airport (TNCS) is the only airport on the Caribbean island of Saba at only 1300 feet long it makes for a tight fit.
2. Gustaf III Airport (TFFJ) The arrival descent is extremely steep over the hilltops Most Extreme Airports, ranks Gustaf III airport, which is casually referred to as “St. Barth’s”, as the 3rd most dangerous airport in the world.
3. Paro Airport (VQPR) the airport sits at an altitude of 7,300 feet) and is located in a deep valley on the bank of Paro river surrounded by peaks as high as 18,000 feet. Flights at Paro are allowed under visual meteorological conditions only and are restricted to daylight hours
4. Courchevel Airport (LFLJ) is a French airport that sits at 6588 feet, with a runway that is only 1,722feet with gradient of 18.5 %. There is no go-around procedure at this airport
5. Tenzing-Hillary Airport (VNLK) sits at 9,100 feet, with a runway 1,500 feet long. The surrounding terrain, thin air, highly changeable weather and the airport’s short, sloping runway make it one of the most challenging landings in the world.

The simulator tournament will consist of two divisions, one for pilot certificate holders as well as a novice division for those with little or no flying experience. The entry fee for the tournament is $35 with the top prize in the Pilot Division being your choice of 2- hours of flight training in the simulator, or 1 free hour of aircraft rental in a Cessna 172 to include instruction if desired.

The simulator tournament will start on Saturday February 5th at noon and run through Saturday February 12th at 5 P.M. You can book your session at anytime during the week to be entered in the tournament.
